History and Facts
Air New Zealand was founded in 1940 as Tasman Empire Airways Limited (TEAL) wherein the New Zealander and Australian government share 50-50% stake. In 1960, New Zealand bought back the 50% stake from Australia and that’s when the name was officially changed to Air New Zealand. The current leader and CEO of the airline, Mr. Christopher Luxon, is a 45 year old American businessman and the former president of Unilever Canada prior to Air New Zealand.
The national carrier of New Zealand is operating in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch International Airports with a total fleet size of 54 (excluding their subsidiaries) serving over 55 routes worldwide. Air NZ’s logo is a stylized Māori koru which is a fern frond unfolding used on Polynesian canoes, the livery of the airlines means new life, growth and renewal.
Air NZ caters four types of cabin classified as Economy, Premium Economy, Business and Business Premier. The difference of the four cabin classes depends on their flight route and haul. Economy Class and Business Class are for passengers with short haul flights wherein on the other side, Premium Economy and Business Premier are for passengers on long haul flights.
Customers are served with variety of international cuisines and beverages depending on which class the passengers are in. However, all cabin classes are served with complimentary tea, coffee and water. To keep passengers entertained, Air New Zealand has a seatback audio video on demand and allows personal electronic devices on board.

The website of the airlines kept it simple and precise with black and white colors and a happy family picture gives a welcoming embrace to travelers. The page’s functions let travelers be inspired by ideas, tourist attractions worldwide and also search and book flights, hotel reservations and car rentals. Like other airlines, their official website provides options to check-in online and/or manage their bookings.
However the language selector is slightly different from others because it’s located at the bottom left as “New Zealand site change”, once you click change it will direct travelers to another page just to select their country or language preference. Through that. customers will get their version of country of origin which includes Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, USA, Canada Brazil, UK, Deutschland and France. These services are also offered in their mobile app, ready to be downloaded for iOS and Android users.
Air New Zealand Reviews of Passengers
According to the majority of Air New Zealand reviews, the airline is getting lots of praises from customers. Most of them said that Air New Zealand was unique with friendly staff, good meals and efficient service, they even compared the airline as better than Jetstar and Air France.
One reviewer on the 29th of February 2016 said that they’re excellent. However, they commented on the inefficiency of the self check-in counters. But on a positive note, a nice staff member came and helped them. She also said that her boarding was smooth, inflight entertainment was creative, food services are convenient for passengers and what made her rate them with 9/10 was the flight landed on time.

In The End
Based on Air New Zealand reviews, the New Zealander airline doesn’t have much to offer but was able to maintain a certain standard of service throughout the years. They were able to receive several awards since 2010. The most recent was being the “Airline of the Year” by AirlineRatings.com and “World’s Best Premium Economy Class” by Skytrax.
