The joint venture of Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) and the Latvian state established and commenced airBaltic on the 28th of August 1995, though it started operations in October with their first aircraft (Saab 340).

The first Boeing for their fleet size joined in 2003 and this added five more destinations to the airline’s services.

The flag carrier of Latvia is headquartered at Riga International Airport with 24 aircraft consisting of 12 Boeing 737 and 12 DHC-8 Dash 8. The Latvian low cost airline caters 60 destinations internationally, led by their current Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Martin Gauss, who was a pilot of British Airways and his priorities now are restructuring and the turnaround management of airBaltic.

Economy Class – customers under this class are not left out for they can also crewhave the freedom of seat selection. To keep them entertained, portable media players are offered while they’re being served with snacks, meals, and drinks.

Business Class – customers under this class can enjoy fully-flexible tickets with priority check-in, lounge access, and security control. Passengers are located at the front arrangement of aircraft. Customers are also free to select from the gourmet of international cuisines with wines and/or juices.

Official Website and Mobile App

The shocking contrast of yellow or green as the theme color of airBaltic is really puzzling me, maybe it’s related to being a green country. This was a nice way to get the attention of travelers and including myself. Even if the words are too small on their official website, I personally love how it is organized. Like other airlines, airBaltic’s page lets customers book flights, hotel reservations, car rentals, manage bookings, check flight status, check-in online, and cargo services.

These features can be accessed on their travel app downloadable from the App Store and Google Play Store. However, the mobile app wasn’t updated for a year but is still reliable in mobile boarding passes.

airBaltic Reviews of Customers

The Latvian low-cost airline receives fair airBaltic reviews from passengers; few are really talking highly about airBaltic but this few don’t make them down or cause them to cease operations. Majority of the recent airBaltic reviews are mostly positive, especially mentioning the cleanliness of the cabin, well-mannered flight attendants, and reliable online booking.

One review posted on the 11th of July 2016 said that airBaltic’s service was slick and professional. He even mentioned that the meals were tasty and fresh, and the crew were friendly and attentive. Lastly, he ended up his review by saying, “I am looking forward to flying on the new aircraft that are entering service later this year.”

According to several airBaltic reviews, the airline is outstanding with its unique and more-than-enough services. Even if it’s considered as a low-budget air service, this doesn’t show on board. The Latvians were successful in creating a discreet masterpiece. I would personally love to try flying with airBaltic. Feel free to leave a comment below.

  1. Very poor value for money. Me and my wife took a flight from Amsterdam to Tel Aviv with a stop at Riga. Air Baltic charged us EUR 30 per piece of baggage for Amsterdam-Riga and EUR 30 per piece of baggage from Riga to Tel Aviv. In total it added another EUR 120 to our costs for our flight to Tel Aviv. Another EUR 120 was charged when we got back the same way. I would stay clear from Air Baltic.
