Belavia Reviews

Belavia Reviews-belarusBelavia traces its roots back on the 7th of November 1933 when the first airport was opened in Minsk with 3 Po-2 as their initial fleet size. However, the official commencing of operations of Belavia was on the 5th of March 1996, according to the Belarusian government’s resolution. Until now, they are still the only airline that operates with Tu-154s on regular flights.

In due time, Belavia grew massively to 31 aircraft that serve 40 destinations internationally. They are still headquartered at Minsk National Airport, and are still fully-owned by the government of Belarus. As of November 2015, Belavia has codeshare agreements with airBaltic, Air France, Austrian Airlines, Czech Airlines, Etihad Airways, Finnair, KLM, LOT Polish Airlines, S7 Airlines, Severstal Air Company, and Ukraine International Airlines

Flying with Belavia

Belavia Reviews-crewThe national airline of Belarus caters two cabins classified as Economy and Business. However, passengers are not really satisfied with the cabin’s overall interior, since for them it looks really dirty and unpleasant. On a positive note, meals on board are served with a white fabric tablecloth and stainless steel utensils. Meals consist of extensive international dishes with a range of beverage selection. The flight attendants of the airline were known to be friendly and accommodating, as well.

The Website

Unfortunately, Belavia doesn’t have a mobile application of their services. So, let us see how does their official website work. Judging from Belavia reviews, the site isn’t reliable as per consumers; it’s not even user-friendly, and it complicates travelers who are technically challenged. Well, in my honest opinion, I found that the site’s font sizes are too small, and the overall layout and features are quite complicated to use.

However, this site can be interchangeable to 6 other languages aside from English. The headings on the page show options or access to Tickets, Timetable, My Reservation, Arrival and Departure, and their frequent flyer Belavia Leader. The main features are similar to other airlines’ with book, manage, and check flights.

Belavia Reviews of Passengers

The flag carrier of Belarus had gathered a total of a 7/10-star rating on Skytrax’s Airlinequality.com. Recently, customers are happy with the overall performance of the Belarusian airline. Passengers are extremely happy with the comfort and enjoyment they felt on board; they even compared Belavia to Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines. However, the most recent reviewer said:

“Belavia is one of the carrier 2 operators on this route. For 5kg of excess baggage I was not charged. Was a very old 737-500 with the smell of fuel and unwashed socks in the cabin. No leg room and uncomfortable seats. Crew talking and seemed very strict with no smiles.”

I think Belavia should look after this matter, because in this review, he gave them a 1/10 rating.

Conclusion

To give a short narrative thought about Belavia, it was actually my first time to hear the country’s name. Belarus, according to Maps of World, is most famous for its rich culture, creative arts, and architecture. Well, it pretty much pictures the performance of the airline. But, Belavia needs more improvement, and I think they should clean up some of their aircraft’s interior since these are the only complaints so far.

  1. London to Minsk to London. Service ok but nothing special. Food not very good. However if you want to go direct to Minsk from the UK this is your only choice. Not bad but could do with some competition. Expensive for the distance.
