The country where the Ferrari World is founded, known for their skyscrapers, luxury hotels and landscape parks. Abu Dhabi is a rich country where foreign workers, business travelers and tourists visit their vast Islamic heritage and Arabic culture. Abu Dhabi is one of the seven sheikhdoms that build up the United Arab Emirates. Of course, who would forget the deadly stunt done by Vin Diesel when he jumped a $3.4 million Red Lykan Hypersport from each of the Etihad Towers? Well, in this review, we won’t be talking about action scenes, but we will see how cool is Abu Dhabi’s airline: Etihad Airways.

Origin and Ownership
Next to Emirates, Etihad Airways is the second-largest airline of the U.A.E. The airline was established mid-2003 as the second flag carrier of the U.A.E. by Royal (Amiri) Decree issued by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Just so you know, the airline is now the national airline of the U.A.E. The origin of the name “Etihad” was actually an Arabic word for “union”. The world-renowned airlines was the fastest-growing air service which became the world’s leading airline in just eight years.

Now, Etihad Airways is headquartered at Abu Dhabi International Airport with a fleet size of 119 catering to 90 destinations internationally. They have three company slogans: “From Abu Dhabi to the World”; “The World Is Our Home, You Are Our Guest”; “Flying Reimagined”.

InFlight Services
The aim of the airline is to seek Arabian hospitality, Etihad Airways has three cabin classes:

economyEconomy Class – passengers can enjoy their unique headrest which also provides a shoulder to lean on and an adjustable back support. These seats offer a generous legroom space of 32-inch and 6-inch recline. But of course, the flight is not just about seats, flight attendants will provide travelers with blankets, pillows and blanket bags to store customer’s belongings. Those are apart from the traditional amenity kits of airlines. An inflight entertainment system to keep them entertained and connected to mobile or WiFi connectivity, lets travelers stay connected with their families and friends.
Business Class – passengers can enjoy increased personal space. Etihad Airways Reviews-businessThis cabin class is located on the upper deck next to First Class passengers. What makes this class stand out? It is because the design and style are inspired by the intimate spaces found in hotels. The location was made for their customers to enjoy socializing with other Business and First Class passengers. A selection of inspiring magazines and latest newspapers and noise-cancelling earphones to access their inflight entertainment are available. A dedicated check-in is provided along with the Etihad chauffeur.

Etihad Airways Reviews-firstFirst Class – passengers will enjoy the new first apartment service of Etihad Airways. Customers who boarded the first class ticket never thought it will be more than what they had expected. It doesn’t feel like they were on a plane, it felt like they were on a five star hotel while flying. Internationally fully-qualified chefs will serve their meals. Even in their meals, they pay attention to finer details and utensils. Take note: this service was listed as Top 1 Best First Class on board, click here.

PC and Mobile Version
Unlike other airlines, their page gives it all from searching for prices, booking for flights, check-in, boarding, inflight services and even the company details. It is noticeable that the airline had chosen elegant colors as their theme which gives a luxurious impact to the layout of the site. The official website provides travellers information regarding what’s new, deals and offers. Their frequent flyer program, Etihad Guest, will let travellers get benefits from flying by earning miles that can be used in the future as discounts or other services upgrade.

Their mobile app has similar features with the PC version, wherein customers can download their travel app on the App Store and Google Play Store. However, Etihad Airways reviews show that their mobile application isn’t reliable and it’s still best to use their official website instead.

What People are Saying?
Well, speaking of Etihad Airways reviews, the feedback are showing different sides of the coin about the prestigious airline. It is quite sad to see that the airline had an overall score of 5/10 star rating based on 681 Etihad Airways reviews on Skytrax. This is obviously not a good sign. On a positive note, the most recent review is showing a positive acknowledgement for his experience with the airline on February 22, 2016, when he said:

“Etihad Airways from Mumbai to Washington via Abu Dhabi. Business Class on the Boeing 787 has a subtler finish giving the cabin a more open, less claustrophobic feel than the 777. Wifi connections to meals and service provided onboard from cabin crew are all superb. My only grouse is the shambolic boarding process for Business Class passengers (at all stations) who board with 300+ Y Class passengers, even as less than a handful of First Class passengers stroll onboard via their own dedicated aerobridge. It doesn’t create for a very premium experience for the 20-30 Business Class passengers.”

Conclusion
These Etihad Airways reviews and information were helpful. Emirates Airlines is without a doubt one of the best airlines in the world. However, if consumer’s feedback will keep pulling them down, I guess they won’t back down too. Kudos to this airline that recently started, but had gained a lot of recognition worldwide.

  1. Worst flight I have had since I travelled Kenya airlines in the eighties! From Manchester seating was very uncomfortable. The flight to Bangkok was turned around as we taxied for take-off to decant two passengers who were headed for Jeddah not Bangkok! Delayed one and a half hours.
