GotoBus was established in 2002 in replacement of IvyMedia, which was an online bus agency as well. The aim was to focus on offering online bus ticketing service for bus giants catering intercity services. The founder of IvyMedia was also the brain behind GotoBus, Mr. Xiangping Chen. Prior to that, Mr. Chen or also known as Jimmy Chen held software development and management positions which made him more knowledgeable with computer science.
Well, Jimmy was a Ph.D graduate of Computer Science at Purdue University with master’s and bachelor’s degree from Zhejiang University. However, it is quite doubtful why doesn’t he have at least a decent picture.
GotoBus.com is an online bus booking agency for intercity bus ticket. Their system allows travelers to find, compare and book bus tickets online from hundred bus companies throughout the United States, Mexico and Canada with a reasonable price from over 3,000 bus schedules.
GotoBus looks a little bit outdated with their layout. However, the page lets customers to search and compare bus tickets from their preferred location to destination. GotoBus also provides services for hotel reservations, tourist attractions, shows and deals, but once you get to be enticed it will just redirect travelers to another travel site.
Well, GotoBus also has other advantages over other online bus agencies. This is due to the fact that they promptly show that customers can check or track their bus status, faqs about bus travelling, trip rescheduling and even customer reviews.
GotoBus have extended their services through mobile applications. The bus travel app is available both in the App store and Google Play store. They also have a mobile site version aside from the mobile application. This expanded version of GotoBus services aims to make booking fast and simple.
Why NOT GotoBus?
I am not quite surprised that this online booking agency had been receiving a lot of continuous negative GotoBus reviews from their consumers. Well, to make myself clear, I based my resource from a credible BBB site wherein there are around 58 reviews. As a sum total, 95% of the GotoBus reviews are unlikely to recommend GotoBus and the rest is self explanatory.
The most recent review was posted on November 30, 2015. The customer had a negative impression and experience with GotoBus when he said: “Well, as the saying goes: you get what you pay for. These people kept me on hold for two hours as I eagerly tried to resolve a dispute. In addition, I was left with an open chat session twice. I requested to speak with a supervisor.
The chat window was just left open with no indication that the session had ended. The rep was rude and she even went as far as to respond in big bold letters, a perfect indication that she was yelling at me. The customer service was terrible.”

Just reading a few GotoBus reviews, it was enough for me to understand that GotoBus is not a reliable and credible company to deal with. The rudeness of their representative was inexcusable. At least Gotobus should know how to handle their irate customers properly not by being irate as well. If this still applies up to the current, I am quite sure that GotoBus will lose all of his customers in time.
