Helvetic Airways traces its roots back in the autumn of 2003 as an extension rebranding of the Odette Airways to cater destinations in Southern-Eastern Europe. The Swiss airline was even the first budget airline that operated with a Fokker 100. Initially, Helvetic Airways operated with 3 aircrafts which increased now to 14, including 7 Embraer ERJ-190 and 1 Airbus A319.
The airline is headquartered in Bern and Zurich Airport with 34 destinations including France, Cyprus, Spain, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Kosovo, Macedonia and United Kingdom. They are currently led by their Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Bruno Jans.
Inflight with Helvetic Airways
Since it’s a Swiss airline, the crew applies the traditional hospitality on board. Souvenirs are also distributed even it’s just a low-budget airline and a strict policy over No Smoking keeps the cabin fragrant and healthy. To keep their passengers entertained, as of May 2014, Helvetic Airways lets customers to use their electronic devices during flight provided it’s on Flight or Airplane Mode. Like other major airlines, they also provide special assistance to passengers with reduced mobility, pregnant women, unaccompanied minors and travelers with infants.
However, meals are bought on board with a range of sandwiches and salads available. The most famous inflight dish is the Good Morning Switzerland breakfast box.
I am a little bit frank when it comes to commenting about official website of airlines and Helvetic Airways sure didn’t pass my observation. The official site was actually boring and the fonts are too small, a person with visual problems will be having a hard time reading or browsing into the page. However, given its unpleasant overall appearance, the features of the site lets customers to book flights, hotel reservations and car rental services. It also includes options to manage and check their bookings online.
The official website of Helvetic Airways is interchangeable from English to Deutsch, French and Italian languages. In case customers will have difficulty on using the site, their customer service number (+41 44 270 85 00) is shown on the bottom left of the page.

As I expected, based on 18 Helvetic Airways reviews on Skytrax, the airline had a total score of 7/10 which literally means they are above the average. Passengers even said that the airline deserves a recognition because in their review, they had a problem when their Italian ground crew didn’t show up for work and pilots and flight attendants made an alternative action to save the passengers from missing their connecting flight. The reviewer highly appreciated how the staff of Helvetic Airways handled the unexpected problem, that she gave them a 10/10 score rating on the 11th of October 2015.

There’s not much more I can tell, I really loved writing a review about this airline. I didn’t expect this budget airline can offer and serve customers with similar level as to international major airlines around. According to Helvetic Airways reviews as well, the sanitary maintenance of the cabins are one of the reason why each flights with them are comfortable and satisfying.
