Hotwire Reviews

Hotwire Reviews-Texas Pacific GroupThe travel site was founded in 2000 and was funded with an investment of $75 million dollars by Texas Pacific Group (TPG), which is one of the largest American private equity firms. Just so you know, the site was initially known as “Purple Demon” prior to its launch in 2000. Hotwire was launched by 4 key people
(Karl Peterson, Eric Grosse, Gregg Brockway, and Spencer Rascoff) and 6 major airlines (American Airlines, Northwest Airlines, Continental Airlines, America West Airlines, US Airways and United Airlines).

How does Hotwire work?

Hotwire Reviews-pageWell, like average travel sites, Hotwire is pretty much similar to other online travel agency’s services such as booking of hotel reservations, car rental services, and airfare. Since the era of search and compare is mainstream nowadays, Hotwire doesn’t differ.

Basically, Hotwire kept their web page simple with white and red, which makes it pleasant to the eyes and more user-friendly. We have to admit that it is easy to navigate Hotwire from searching to be inspired with its destination suggestions below.

Hotwire Reviews-mobile appOn Hotwire, customers have the option to change the language and currency appearing at the top right of the page. But, right before that option, a mobile icon is shown and once clicked, it will give travellers an access to get a link directly to their phone number by entering their credentials. Their mobile application is actually available in the App Store and Google Play Store.

The travel app serves as the mobile version of all the services mentioned above on their PC version. As said on their app description, customers can get more great deals on the mobile version since the notification function is there to inform customers of the latest offers and package deals.

  1. I booked a 1-day rental with Hotwire and when I got to the counter at Payless rentals, they claimed that it was only an estimate. So instead of paying $23 dollars as Hotwire booked for me, I ended up paying over $70. I will never book through them or rent Payless car rental again.
