The Petronas is the tallest twin-towers in the world. The postmodern concept of the building is a major icon for Kuala Lumpur and all of Malaysia. A unique feature of this building is the skybridge that connects the twins to each other. The prestigious retail center Suria KLCC is based at the feet of the Petronas. The Shanghai tower is the tallest building in China after beating its neighbour the Shanghai World Financial Tower. The skyscraper is also the second tallest building in the world. The 128 story building shelters hotels, shopping malls, mechanical offices, observatories and more. The Shanghai tower is adjacent to the Shanghai World Financial Tower and Jin Mao tower, making them the great trio among skyscrapers.

The Cocoon tower was built within two years from 2006 to 2008. The architecture design of the tower was determined by a design competition to put elite architects against each other, there was only one rule, the building shall never take a rectangular shape. The architecture firm Tange Associates won the battle with their cocoon-like design. The design was to pay tribute to the Japanese tradition of beautifully wrapping objects.

The Shard in London, England


This pyramid shape skyscraper presents the biggest innovations and development in the country of England. The nickname “Shard of Glass” was given to the building, maybe because the meaning of shard is a piece of something with a sharp edge. The architect behind this man-made masterpiece is Renzo Piano.

The first ever building to reach 100 floors and the fastest skyscraper to be built within 410 days is none other than the Empire State Building. People would line up everyday to climb the building and gaze upon the magnificent Manhattan skyline. For people with fear of heights, the building offers a simulated Sky Ride over the city for 25 minutes of cinematic goodness.

Taipei 101 is the title holder for the largest and tallest green building in the world. There are 101 floors in the building, that idea was inspired by the disney movie 101 Dalmatians, just kidding. Having 100 floors signifies perfection, so why not improve perfection? The design of the building and its interior promotes luck and positive energy. The tower represents a bamboo reaching the sky to connect heaven and earth.

Will the time come when the richest person on the planet decides to build a tall building as a home? It’s insane but not impossible, here’s a thought, if that would ever happen, that man should build an orphanage for kids and then the owner’s house will be at the top. Just a thought.
