The new travel startup called Misterbnb was founded in 2013 in Paris, France by Matthieu Jost, François de Landes, Marc Dedonder, and Julien Delon. Initially, it was a combination of the gay travel site, myGayTrip, and Sejourning; it was then envisioned to be the gay-friendly version of Airbnb since co-founder Matthieu was a customer of Airbnb before but had mixed results with their service.
Well, if the name of the travel company sounds familiar, it’s because it’s close to “Airbnb.” Misterbnb is modeled after Airbnb, which primarily provided rented lodging to the LGBT community. Forbes once called this site the “gay Airbnb;” well, it’s not some sort of discrimination because the site tells people to “Travel with Pride.”
What is Misterbnb?
We shouldn’t be looking down at Misterbnb if we have issues of gender equality. The travel site doesn’t distinguish differences but promotes equality to every individual even with different gender preferences. It was never wrong to be a gay at all.
The company’s slogan is “Rent a gay room and a gay bed & breakfast, and travel with pride,” and in just a few years, they were able to provide us search results from thousands of rooms available in 65 countries. In 2015, this grew to 25,000 hosts in over 130 countries. Misterbnb guarantees that 60% of their hosts don’t use other sharing accommodation sites.
Misterbnb Reviews of Customers
Let me warn you beforehand, Misterbnb is not one trusted site not because of their aim of gender equality, but because they are somehow similar to Airbnb over reviews. Tripadvisor has a forum wherein one of their consumers had mentioned, “Stay away from misterbnb gay accommodation site!” Let’s hear him out: the customer actually said,
“This company is not working in professional way. They have communication problem as well as lack of problem solving ability. The worst thing is their very late payment transfer to the hosts. I got a payment confirmation and they sent less amount than they confirmed! Ridiculous!

How To Reach Them?
For some reason, given the popularity of the gay version of Airbnb, it has limited contact information. The only information we had was their origin and their head office located in “Delaware, United States,” which is too general. However, some registration shows that their head office is in “San Francisco, CA,” which confuses us as to where they really are based.
Well, it’s easy to just come up with “We are headquartered in ‘somewhere’, USA.” Though, here’s another information we have in case consumers need to reach them: their contact email, “firstname.lastname@example.org.”
The growth of Misterbnb is somehow similar to Airbnb, though, I hoped somehow they won’t follow the footsteps of Airbnb in customer service, BUT THEY ACTUALLY DID. We are aware of the cases Airbnb is into recently, wherein mismanagement lead to inequality in the accommodation of the host and the guest.
