Momondo Reviews 2016

Since it has been a year, we will be starting to write new reviews about the travel sites we once wrote about last year, just to give you a heads up of the current status or changes of a particular online travel agency. Things can change in a span of a year, that’s why we decided on re-writing some of the written travel search engines and give you the freshest feedback for 2016.

In this review, we will be re-talking about Momondo.

Momondo commenced in September 2006 by a 46-year old Danish businessman, Mr. Thorvald Stigsen, who also founded Skygate in 1992. Skygate is the parent company of Momondo.

In 2011, Momondo, together with Skygate, was bought by Cheapflights. Even so, Momondo remains in operation in Denmark as an independent subsidiary. Hugo Burge, who was with Cheapflights’ investor group became the Chief Executive Officer of Momondo.

Since 2013, Momondo was consecutively nominated as “World’s Leading Flight Comparison Website” and in 2011, they won the award from Danish Travel Awards as the “Best Travel Website”

What is Momondo?
Momondo is an online travel search engine based in Copenhagen, Denmark wherein customers can search and compare airfare, hotel reservation packages and car rentals.

Momondo Reviews 2016-pageMomondo doesn’t only focus on searching and comparing but also provides inspiration to travellers with their Trip Finder service. Trip Finder narrows down the search options to destinations and customer’s budget to cities, shopping, beaches, nature, nightlife and skiing.

At Momondo, customers get to see thumbnails of tourist attractions by popular destinations and countries. The layout will remind you of Windows 8. Once customers pick a country destination, it directs them to another page wherein customers can search flights within the country of choice.

The mobile app lets customers compare flights, find hotel deals and almost similar services provided on the PC version. The travel app is available to download in the App store and Google Play store.

The last section of Momondo gives customers the option to get subscribe to their newsletter. This service lets customers receive the latest deals and offers by Momondo straight to their inbox, all they have to do is type in their email address and hit “Yes, please!

Momondo Reviews 2016 – Complaints

Momondo Reviews 2016-complaints“Wanted to book a flight to Calgary Canada via KLM. But the boooking is available in Dutch language only. Impossible, because I don’t speak Dutch and the airline does not seem to accommodate for English speaking passenger. Very unfortunate that Momondo can’t do anything about this offer shown on their page.”

STAY AWAY from MOMONDO!

After writing this Momondo Reviews 2016, I am not really convinced to use this online travel agency due to its inconsistent quality of service, even as we had to re-write to check the travel site’s credibility. If they are really successful then why sell to Cheapflights? Are they so incompetent that they need to seek others’ help?

  1. To be honest, when I first saw momondo. I was thinking of the green cute gaming app which eats candy, Omnom. However, I was puzzled with how Momondo works. Check some reviews and it looks fine. But after booking with them. Momondo taught me two things. First, I learned how online travel agency works. Second, how to be scammed. Either of which, I won’t be using this travel site. Never again.
