The pan-European travel site was founded in June 2011 by an association of several European airlines including Air France, Austrian Airlines, Alitalia, Aer Lingus, British Airways, Finnair, Iberia, KLM, and Lufthansa. Opodo has its registered office at Villanueva, 29, 28001, Madrid, Spain but is actually headquartered in London, United Kingdom and 12 other brand sites. 99.4% of the travel company is owned by Amadeus IT Group and it also has been a member of European e-travel group, ODIGEO, since 2011.

The first leader of Opodo was Mr. Giovanni Bisignani, who was the former CEO of Alitalia and current CEO of IATA (International Air Transport Association). But now, since January 2015, Opodo is being managed by Dana Dunne who is also the CEO of eDreams ODIGEO.

Why Opodo?

Opodo Reviews-pageBasically, accessing Opodo is easy and navigating it is the same. Opodo promptly shows the option to search for the customer’s desired destination, either one-way or multi-stop. Recently, Opodo offers up to 20% savings if travellers will book a flight with a hotel reservation. The option for booking hotel reservations is based from 855,000 plus hotels worldwide. Opodo will initially let customers choose what kind of payment method they prefer prior to searching.

Opodo Reviews-mobile appOpodo had extended their services through mobile application. Like other online travel agencies, Opodo has a travel app both available in the App Store and Google Play Store. With this app, travellers can find the best flight deals, hotels for every budget, and hire a car with just a tap on their smartphones. Travellers now can organize their holidays with the Opodo app.

However, given the strong side of the overall service of the page, we need to know beyond the boundaries. We tried to check for Opodo reviews of  customers to see what are their feedback after using Opodo.

Why NOT Opodo?

Since then, Opodo had always been receiving poor comments from consumers. This overall rating got worse now. On SiteJabber, Opodo reviews 2016 show that the travel site had garnered a 0.1/5 score rating. What’s worse is the same concern was not solved. The reason why Opodo had been consistently receiving negative feedback is because some bookings were not actually reserved with the airline and hotels. When you try to reach them, they are often unreachable. Customers consider themselves lucky if they’ll receive a response via email after a month long.

One recent review had caught our attention when he said: Opodo booking system is faulty, it gives you a message to say payment is not processed with no confirmation then still proceeds to take money from your account and they refuse to refund for their error. Disgraceful customer service, generic responses or holding and toe the party line of ‘we don’t give refunds’ despite their errors.”

Overview

Well in that case, it is safe to say that Opodo’s customer care team lacks the ability to be responsive towards consumers’ concerns. This is in fact proven by a lot of Opodo reviews 2016 showing online and continuously adding up everyday. This review is somehow a reminder for travellers who are planning to book with Opodo. Stay away from them, unless you are a hundred percent sure they won’t fake your booking and won’t leave you hanging.

  1. I wouldn’t recommend Opodo to anybody because should you have any queries about payment of flights, Opodo’s customer service staff are clueless! They do not listen and are very rude!! We are due to fly to South Africa in January and I’m not feeling very confident about our reservation!
