After a long flight, travelers long for a comfy bed to relax in and regain the energy they lost after sitting for hours on a plane especially if it’s a turbulent ride. Hotels or other places to stay are temporary homes for people who love to travel. It’s ideal for travelers to book their hotel rooms weeks before their flight, not the minute they approach the front desk and ask, “are there any rooms available?”
Good thing that there are travel sites that focus on providing hotel travel services for people worldwide. Otel is one of them.
The company really spent long hours thinking of the best and unique company name, Otel, it’s just brilliant.
Otel was founded in 2004 by MetGlobal, a giant name in hotel reservations and other travel services. MetGlobal has five travel brands that are established to expand their services across the globe. The CEO of Otel is also the CEO and founder of MetGlobal, Metin Altun.
Going back to Otel, the company aims to provide affordable deals on hotel reservations to travelers. The company promises to present the cheapest deals available; these deals aren’t only affordable, but reasonable as well. It’s quality over quantity.
Everything sounds good so far.
The thing that can spoil this momentum is a summary of negative reviews on the company. Let’s see if the company managed to receive good or bad comments from previous customers.
Otel got an impressive rating of 7.9 out of a 10-star rating on Trustpilot. Most of the positive reviews rated Otel travel services as excellent and their hotel deals as cheap.
However, the negative reviews posted on the website are explained clearly and exposed the gaps on the company’s services. Their poor refund policy was the complaint in most of the negative reviews. One traveler had to cancel one of his hotel room reservations and asked for a refund. Otel confirmed this, but after one month the customer still did not get his refund. Another traveler booked a hotel nine months before his stay, days before his arrival at his destination, Otel notified him that his reservation was unverified and they had to make a new booking to a different hotel. Nine months, I repeat, it took them nine months, how is that even possible?
On Tripadvisor, Otel got a beating from customers who accused the company of being a cheater. One traveler even swore to write several negative reviews on different websites and give Otel a 1-star ranking to diminish their reputation.
Their website is user-friendly and bookings can be easily finalized. Right of the bat, the website promised a 5% discount for bookings when you subscribed to them.
On the footer of the homepage is a list of popular destinations in different continents to make bookings a lot easier. By the way, Otel also provides car rental services.
FivePlus Loyalty program
This program is a way of thanking loyal customers by giving them points they can redeem for their future hotel bookings. After you check out from your hotel, you can receive FivePlus points, each point is equivalent to 1 US dollar. You can use those points only after you checked-out from the hotel booking.
Their customer support and live chat is available 24/7. They also have a FAQs page for quick access to general information. For a more specific enquiries, customers can fill up the request form so their requests could be expedited.
In a Nutshell
Otel, as a travel brand, presents hotel deals from 250,000 hotels worldwide. Since it’s hard to operate with a wide array of travel products, Otel probably needs major improvements and more dedicated employees.
