The earliest discovered people to have resided in Paris are the Parisii, a sub-tribe of the Celtic Senones who are also considered as the founders of the city in the 3rd century BC.

Paris has a deep history that can be traced back during the reign of Julius Ceasar in 52 BC.  Paris was first called Lutetia Parisiorum (Lutece). Parisians were perceived to be rebellious and independent as they fought their way through survival. Paris has a dark and violent past including the aftermath of World War II as well as other incidents. Just look at the city now, a true testament of the word magnificent.

According to online articles, the best time to visit Paris is from June to August, but travel experts also advise everyone to bring enough money to fully enjoy their stay in the City of Lights.

Eiffel Tower

This Iron Lattice Tower is a symbol for Paris, when people say Paris they immediately think about the Eiffel Tower. The 986 feet tower has been the center of attraction for Paris since the date of its opening on March 31, 1889 up to today. There are over 5 billions lights on the Eiffel Tower, the locals gave the nickname La Dame de Fer (the Iron Lady) to the tower.


Louvre Palace and Pyramid

Established in 1972, the Louvre has been the home of famous works of art including the Mona Lisa, Venue de Milo and more. With its unique pyramid shape design, the Louvre is without a doubt one of the best infrastructures ever created. The palace behind truly fits perfect with the pyramid as if they were somehow inter connected.


Notre Dame de Paris (Our Lady of Paris)

This one of a kind gothic cathedral was built way back in 1163, it has been an important infrastructure of the Catholic Religion for decades. Joan of Arc was beatified and canonized in this cathedral. The novel “The Hunchback of Notre-Dame” which was later turned into a movie was inspired by this cathedral. Notre Dame de Paris has been a witness as time passes by through its surroundings.


The Catacombs of Paris

Some people might be afraid to visit this attraction because of the skulls, but according to online reviews, the catacombs is considered to be a unique view and an important part of Paris’ past. This labyrinth attracts the attention of travelers all over the world with its interesting appearance and mystifying ambiance.

Marathon International de Paris (Paris Marathon)

One of the most anticipated sporting festivity is the annual Paris Marathon which spans over over 40 km and was established in 1976. Over 37,000 runners have been taking part of this rich tradition. The marathon starts in Champs-Elysees all the way to the Place de la Concorde. The first race winner was Len Hurst from England. The marathon is mostly held in the month of April, it would be an amazing experience to take part in this event or even better, to finish the entire marathon.

Tour de France

The first ever cyclist race took place in 1903 and the victor was Maurice Garin. The race started to increase paper sales for L’Auto punlication to beat its rival newspaper, Le Velo.  After that, the tour de france took place every july and grew larger every year with spectators from all over the world. One reminder though, taking selfies with the cyclists is prohibited since this can cause harm and disruption to both the audience and cyclists.

Festival de Imaginaire (Festival of the Imagination)

This festival occurs from March to June to provide enough time for artists all over world to showcase their pieces of artwork and demonstrate their skills in the art scene. The festival also celebrates music with concerts, shows and lectures.

  1. I would prefer going to the Catacombs than the Eiffel tower. There are many inns in Paris with great price. You should include that for your next review. This is great though, thank you.

  2. I was only able to visit the Eiffel tower during my visit in Paris, since I was there for wedding. When I come back, I’m going to visit all the attractions included in this article.
