South Africa’s Best Music Festivals
Have you heard of a Jeremy Loops in South Africa? If yes, then we’re good. If no, then you should know about this South African singer and songwriter wherein his debut album was recognized as No. 1 on iTunes South Africa.
Who doesn’t love music? We all love music and it is more fun to celebrate and share music in a music festival. Believe me. Love for music, celebration and gathering. In this review, let’s discover South Africa’s Best Music Festivals!
Where: Underberg, Kwazulu-Natal
When: March 24th–27th
Why: South Africa’s longest running music festival (26 years old). Consisting of four stages, showcasing a diverse and original music lineup. They’re all about creating defining moments. This year’s lineup includes Adelle Nqeto, Adventure man, Asante, Bomb Squad and many more. You’ve still got time to go!
Where: Marks Park, Johannesburg
When: April 16th 10:00-21:00
Why: An urban music and lifestyle festival, focusing on quality South African and international music talent. The event spans over one day with three stages and gourmet food vendors from local farmers markets. Cold beer and gourmet burger in hand, it’s the perfect day out! This year’s lineup includes Jasmine Thompson, Mi Casa, James Hersey and again Jeremy Loops.
Where: Stonehenge Farm, Tankwa Karoo National Park
When: April 25th – May 1st
Why: South Africa’s annual burn spanning 7 days. The citizens of Tankwa Town in the Karoo come together to create art, burning structures, music and performance. This year’s theme is X, the Roman numeral for ten, celebrating a decade of AfrikaBurn. So get creative, feel the burn and enjoy the spectacle that is Afrikaburn. Beats your local bonfire day.
Where: Cloof Wine Estate, Darling
When: October 6th-9th
Why: Don your daisy chains and get ready for a MASSIVE party with an equally MASSIVE line up. Cape Town’s biggest festival, full of colourful tents, bohemian hippies, fancy dress and party spirit. Last year’s lineup included The Cat Empire, The Kooks, Milky Chance and our favourite Jeremy Loops. Peace & Love.
Where: Theewaterskloof Municipality (1 hour outside of Cape Town)
When: November 27th-29th
Why: They promise you the time of your life. Get your arms up in the air, soak up the sun on the banks of the dam and dance the night away under the stars. A multi-stage festival with a Barcadi beach bar and a comedy stage for when you’ve had one too many Barcardis (remember laughter is the best medicine). It’s one hell of a party.
