Cathay Pacific? You are mistaken this is not a review about Cathay Pacific. Tripcentral it is. Though, Tripcentral looks like Cathay Pacific’s colours, let us see if they provide a similar kind of service. Let’s check it out and dive into the details.
History of Tripcentral
Tripcentral was founded in 1989 by Richard & Cheryl Vanderlubbe and was an extension to their successful travel agency business in Hamilton, Canada. They got online in 1996 featuring reduced prices and last-minute packages. In 2001, the site was reborn to Tripcentral.ca and on the same year, vacation packages within Canada were offered. Transat AT invested in Tripcentral in 2005 and became one of the major shareholders of the online travel search engine. Tripcentral has over 120 employees now.
The current president of Tripcentral, Mr. Richard Vanderlubbe, is a Canadian-born citizen and one of the Board Directors of Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO).
What is Tripcentral?
The interface of Tripcentral will remind you of a prestigious top-ranking airline: Cathay Pacific. The colours turquoise, red, and white resemble the largest airline in Hong Kong. I wonder if this is intentional or not? However, given its nice choice of colours, the total layout of Tripcentral is complicated and will be a bad thing to non-tech savvy customers. Letters are all around. I personally think the way in getting a customer to like a web page is through images first. The promotion part of Tripcentral is an orange box where customers get to see the name list of cities and countries with the price.
The middle part of the page provides the option to search flights either one-way, round-trip, or multiple destinations. This section lets customers select their location, destination, departure date and time, cabin class preference, and number of passengers.
The sub-functions of Tripcentral are to search hotel reservations, car rentals, and cruises. These functions are located at the heading of the page in small fonts though. A Blog is also part of the list wherein customers can check the latest blogs Tripcentral has published.
Live Chat option is part of the service Tripcentral provides, located at the top right, in which customers can chat with a live agent. However, if customers want to call instead of chat, the toll free number is located next to the live chat button but it’s not working 24/7, only until 8:00 PM PDT.
Tripcentral Reviews of Consumers
I was engaged in reading some Tripcentral reviews since the travel site is continuously been receiving a lot complaints. Most of the Tripcentral reviews say that the online travel agency is a fraud, a total ripoff, and a bait-and-switch company.
One review had even struck the attention of the media when she said “We were going to book thru Tripcentral from word of a friend then we looked and phoned around went to travel agency in Oshawa and book the same trip for $300 per person less than what Tripcentral was going to charge us. Watch Your Money!” A variety of replies showed up with this review agreeing that travellers need to watch their bookings with Tripcentral.

My final thoughts after looking into Tripcentral reviews are the travel agency really is a good leader. However, the services don’t meet the customers’ satisfaction. Even after I wrote this review, a negative complaint was just published regarding the too-good-to-be-true price of Tripcentral. They really have to be careful in posting price deals.
