Trivago Review

The rise of metasearch engines poses a great threat to online travel sites. Metasearch engines are information aggregators that depend on other search engines’ data. They gather as many data as they can and then distribute it as their own.

Some online travel sites adapted to this situation by teaming up with metasearch engines. As the saying goes, if you can’t beat them, join them.

Trivago is one of those aggregators who are starting to build a reputation in the industry.

Foundation
The plans for the creation of Trivago were unfolded in 2004. On the other hand, the company was officially launched in 2005 in
Düsseldorf, Germany. By then, Trivago was introduced as an online travel search engine to the world.

Operation

“We know everything about hotels,” is the official company slogan of Trivago. The travel site offers hotel reservation services as well as affordable flight deals. They also help travelers choose the best priced packages with their price comparison feature.

The information they provide comes from 287 booking sites like Expedia, Booking.com, Priceline.com and many more. They provide price rates and information for over 900,687 hotels worldwide.

Their website is localized in 50 countries and can be translated to 25 languages. They also have their own mobile application for a more convenient way of doing things.

Get in touch with Trivago

Trivago has phone customer service, but their main customer support is through email. Customers can submit their concerns on the “contact us” page. They also release information about their partners, booking sites, and hotel companies.

To make things easier for the customers, Trivago has their own FAQs page for general information regarding every aspect of their travel services.

Online Ratings

Trivago got an impressive 8.4 out of 10 star rating from Trustpilot.com.

Customers were happy about the company’s credibility when it came to hotel price rate comparison. Some customers said that Trivago is their favorite website. Trivago managed to gain loyal customers, which is absolutely pretty impressive.

However, things on Sitejabber.com are a little different. The company only got a 33% thumbs up rating from customers.

Dissatisfied customers were furious about some misleading hotel deals offered by Trivago. They claim that the company often makes technical mistakes and have a lot of discrepancies with their services.

It’s hard to determine the true quality of Trivago’s products and services because of the colliding feedback from various review sites. But it’s safe to say that the company is on the right track and it is knowledgeable of what they’re currently doing.

In a nutshell

Trivago, being a metasearch engine, depends on innovation to further develop their travel services in the industry. Looks like “new is always better” when it comes to Trivago.

  1. The site made a lot of mistakes in my booking. First by date of departure and then my surname was misspelled. I called the customer service and told me that they’ll take care of everything. When I arrived at the airport, the attendants won’t allow me in because there wasn’t any booking under my name. I had to catch a lastminute flight that almost caused me $800. Weak company.
