Initially, Turkish Airlines was founded on May 23th, 1933 as “State Airlines Administration” to serve as a department for the Ministry of National Defence in Turkey. On May 21st, 1955, the name was changed to Turkish Airlines in accordance to Law No. 6623.
In April 2005, Temel Kotil, 55 years of age, was appointed as the General Manager; he is also the Vice Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee up to this day. Kotil was born on December 3, 1959, in Rize, Turkey.
On Air with Turkish Airlines
Turkish Airlines caters two kinds of cabin classes: Economy and Business Class.
Economy – there’s not much information online about their Economy Class, since the web page for the cabin information is malfunctioning. However, we were able to find out that this service provides seat pitches of 31-32 inches. The maximum recline of each seat is 6 inches, the seat pan adds an additional 1.5 inches with a total recline of 7.5 inches.
Business – passenger are greeted with a choice of welcome drinks as they board the aircraft. The cabin service lets travellers experience restaurant-quality service on board with carefully selected menus that regularly change to provide new options for frequent flyers. To keep them entertained, a seatback AVOD system is available for them to use.
Official Website and Mobile app
Initially Turkish Airlines will let customers to select their country and language of origin then it will lead them to a version of the official site which they are more comfortable to understand. Though what we’ve noticed is that they are promoting the movie, Batman VS Superman Dawn of Justice since it keeps showing hashtags to #FLYTOGOTHAM and #FLYTOMETROPOLIS.
But it’s noticeable that the official web page of the flag carrier of Turkey is not modernized. The font sizes are terribly small. Overall, it’s not user-friendly.
On a positive note, travellers get the same option to book flights, hotel reservations and car rental online. Customers can also manage their booking, check time tables and their flight status online.
How about for smartphone users? Yes, Turkish Airlines has a mobile version of all these PC services. The mobile app is available in the App Store, Google Play Store and Windows Store.
Turkish Airlines Reviews of Customers
Turkish Airlines managed to gain a mixture of loyal and disappointed customers. According to satisfied customers, the in flight service was perfect with extra legroom, the flight attendants were attentive and the flight itself was fun.
The main complaints are directed to their food and beverage distribution. One couple was disappointed because their children were not given food at all during their flight. Is this true or is the customer just going out of his way to tarnish the airline’s reputation?

Turkish Airlines is the fourth best airline in the world according to SkyTrax. There’s no doubt that their service is great but there are certain gaps needing to be fixed because several customers are starting to lose their cool when dealing with Turkish Airlines. It’s time to get those customers back.
