Widerøe actually started from the foundation of two small airlines (Lotsberg & Skappel and Widerøe & Bjørneby) back in 1932 in which this cooperation established air shows in eastern Norway. These shows were used to introduce and advertise their company. In 1933, the founder, Viggo Widerøe, had bought 5 used de Havillands from the Air Force and started aviation schools both in Oslo and Bergen. And, officially in 1934, Widerøe’s Flyveselskap A/S was founded.
Now the airline more known as “Widerøe” is the largest regional airline operating in the Nordic countries with a fleet size of 41 Bombardier Dash aircraft. International services are provided to and from five Norwegian airports to seven foreign airports in Sweden, Denmark, and the United Kingdom.
Inflight Services with Widerøe
The inflight service of Widerøe varies with the destination and time of the day. They offer breakfast on domestic flights lasting longer than 45 minutes, complimentary coffee and tea all day, and snacks, chocolate, and drinks are available for sale.
Customers travelling to Sweden and Denmark via flexible tickets are offered a breakfast with coffee, tea, and cold drinks, and sandwiches with a smoothie free of charge. Economy ticket passengers are offered breakfast-baguettes with coffee, tea, and water. Though, cold drinks and other snacks are available for sale.

Looking through the official site, it pretty much shows that the airline doesn’t pay too much attention to their web page. It is just a plain white and green page, but at least it has an option to search and book flights online. Customers can also manage (cancel or change) their bookings online. Apart from flight booking, their site also has hotel reservation and car rental services. They also show the current news in the travel industry.

On a positive note, Widerøe has a travel app for customers who are more fond of using smartphones over computers to book or check their flights. Travellers can also manage and check their flight schedule, find travel information, and read the latest news. The Widerøe mobile app is available in the App Store and Google Play Store.

Reading several Widerøe reviews online is not as disappointing as their official site looks like or how their services sound like. Passengers had been complimenting their Widerøe overall experience, saying the airline’s service is far better than a regional airline’s. On Skytrax, according to 8 Widerøe reviews, the airline scored an overall rating of 8/10. Even first time flyers were impressed with how things go with Widerøe.

Well, to be honest, when we started writing this review about Widerøe, we were actually disappointed. Because, they seem to be not interested in making their site or services look and sound professional or exclusive. They lack the convincing power for you to get hooked on travelling with them. It requires a lot of patience and effort to see how great the airline is.
